AIR SHOW AT SIAL |
| On 27th March 2005, SIAL celebrated "Pakistan Day" at the Airport site with a new zeal, commitment and fervour. The highlight of the day was an air show and joy rides for children totalling 37 sorties. It was a historic occasion for the highly enterprising people of Sialkot, Gujranwala and Gujrat, who witnessed aircraft landing at the airport for the first time. |

Mr. M. Azeem Zafar Appointed As Chief Operating Officer SIAL |
| Mr. M. Azeem Zafar, a Senior Executive of PIA has joined as Chief Operating Officer, SIAL. He retired from the national carrier in August 2005. He has vast experience and knowledge in almost all the fields of airline operations. By virtue of his diversified experience, he has been holding such distinguished positions as GM Passenger Services PIA, GM Cargo Service PIA, GM Catering PIA, Karachi and Station Manager at various international and domestic airports. Moreover, he has the honour of representing PIA at a number of international forums. |

A SIAL Delegation visits Airlines Head Offices |
A SIAL Delegation headed by MR.Khawar Anwar Khawaja. the Chief Executive SIAL visited the head offices of various airlines on 16/17 august 2005. He apprised the airlines personnel on the recent program at the construction site of SIAL and the expected date to complete the project of cargo and passenger flights.
The delegation met Mr.Tariq Kimmani, Chairman PIA in this office who appreciated the initiative taken by the exporters and the business community of sialkot for constructing and airport on self-help basis.

Visit Of Chief Executive SIAL to Australia |
In July 2005, Mr.Khawar anwar Khawaja,Chief Executive SIAL visited M/s Interscan Navigation manufacturing unit at sydney, Australia and exmined the DVOR equipment for SIAL. M/s Interscan Navigation System (PTY) Ltd. Has been awarded the contract of ATC & NAVAIDS equipment by SIAL on turnkey basis and the company will supply and install ILS, DVOR,DME and VHF equipment at SIAL. it is the latest equipment, Which coforms to the operational,navigational and landing requirements of all types of modern aircraft M/s interscan is an internationally recognized firm that produces and installs its state-of-the-art communication equipment at a number of international airports world wide.
In this regard,a technical team of SIAL, CAA representatives, headed by Mr. Awais,convener ATC & NAVAIDS equipment, is visiting Australia and Norway for hands-otraining on the equipment. |
Private Airlines Allowed To Operate On International Routes |
The Ministry of Defence (MOD) Hhas approved the de-regulation of the international routes in the national Aviation Policy. This is a historic decision for the airline industry in pakistan, Through this modification, all private airlines are allowed to operate on international routes, This modification was an outcome of long meetings with the representatives of the private airlines senior officals of the CIVIL Aviation Authority (CAA) and representatives of the PIA.
The Chairman and Chief Executive SIAL has warmly welcomed and commended the decision taken by the CAA and Ministry of Defence. The development will open new skies for the airlines and provide multiple traveling choices for the pakistani passengers. |

GM SIAL Attends Airport Management Course At CATI |
The civil Aviation Traning Institute (CATI) was established in january 1978 with the technical assistance of united Nations development Programme and International Civil Aviation organization(ICAO).
In 1998,CATI was selected as a regional training center to extend its training facilities to other countries in the region Today, CATI is a fully developed institute, imparting training in all kinds of advanced technologies and management concerning Civil Aviation.
Air Marshal(Retd.) Pervez Akhtar Nawaz,DGCAA has graciously granted the approval of first 20 trainees of SIAL to receive traning from CATI free of tution fee. Mr.Muhammad Nawaz Chaudhry, gm SIAL,a retired offical of pakistan Air Force and PIA, was the first employee of SIAL having the honour of completing a comprehensive course on senior Airport Management at CATI. The course is designed to cover operational,Managerial,maintenance,commerical and all others disciplines of an airport and was qidely attended by the senior officers of Civil aviation Authority from almost all the niternational airports.
