| Corps Commander Gujranwala, Lt. Gen. Javed Hassan along with General Officer Commanding, 15 Division Sialkot, Maj. Gen. Muhammad Sabir recently visited Sialkot International Airport site. They were received by the senior officials of SIAL and briefed about the Airport's strategic location and potential that will profit the local industries and bring prosperity for the whole region. |

SIAL Signs An Agreement With PSO Fuel Farm |
| The management of Pakistan State Oil (PSO) and Sialkot International Airport Ltd. (SIAL) signed a formal license agreement for the establishment of aviation, consumer and retail facilities at the under construction site of Sialkot International Airport on Monday the 27th September 2004. General Manager, PSO Aviation & Marine, Syed Zahid ul Hassan and Chief Executive SIAL, Mr. Khawar Anwar Khawaja signed an agreement on behalf of their respective sides. |

SIAL Delegation At Sharjah International Airport & Dubai |
A senior delegation of SIAL comprising Chairman, Mian Muhammad Riaz, Chief Executive, Mr. Khawar A. Khawaja, Directors, Mr. Muhammad Islam Cheema, Mr. Hanif Khan & Mr. Mohsin Shabbir, Managing Director Worldwide Group / Director SIAL, Mr. Sohail Yaseen, General Manager, Mr. Muhammad Nawaz Chaudary and General Manager Worldwide Cargo, Mr. Anjum Khan visited Sharjah and Dubai.
Managing Director Worldwide Group / Director SIAL, Mr. Sohail Yaseen arranged an exclusive visit for the delegation to Sharjah Airport, the biggest hub for cargo operations accounting for 6 lac tons per annum. The delegation was warmly welcomed by Dr. Ghanem Al-Hajiri, Director General CAA, Sharjah and a Ph.D in Aviation, who was extremely delighted to hear about the SIAL project, which is an independent effort of local exporters and businessmen from Sialkot.
Dr. Ghanem assured his full support, guidance and cooperation in the planning, procurement of operational equipment, training and joint operations of SIAL.
The Management of Sharjah Airport and SIAL, both showed keen interest to work together, for the joint promotion of the Airports. SIAL Directors, based at UAE, namely Mr. Mubashir Wahid, Chaudhry Inayatullah, Mirza Inayat and Chaudhry Saifullah also arranged successful meetings with the members of Pakistan Business Council from UAE and other businessmen of Dubai. The success of this tour was driven by the guidance of Ch. Inayatullah and Ch. Saifullah, which helped the delegation make timely arrangements and excellent presentations to the business community in Sharjah and Dubai. Above everything else, these presentations created a great deal of awareness among the Pakistanis settled in both countries, encouraging them to support this great Airport and be a part of this venture. |

SIAL Management Meets Secretary C&W Punjab |
| A SIAL delegation including Chairman, Chief Executive, General Manager and Directors met Mr. Sibtain, Secretary C&W Punjab at his office in Lahore on 27th September 2004. The delegates apprised him of the dilapidated condition of roads leading to the Sialkot International Airport. Mr. Sibtain reassured the confirmation of the tenders for the construction of Dual Carriageway from Sialkot Dry Port to International Airport and Sialkot - Wazirabad Dual Carriageway and agreed to extend his full support for the development of sufficient road infrastructure prior to the commissioning of the Airport. |

Chairman SIAL, Mr. Mian Muhammad Riaz further elaborated on this point and said, “Sialkot International Airport is the first example of a community based project in the country. It aims to benefit the exporters of Sialkot, Gujranwala and adjoining areas, focusing to strengthen overall economy of the region and creating job opportunities. Awarding the contract to PSO is part of our commitment to benefit local expertise and use indigenously made local equipment.”
The Chief Executive SIAL, Mr. Khawar A. Khawaja said, “SIAL is a unique example of public private partnership having 215 exporters and businessmen among the Board of Directors of SIAL. The project will be completed with a total cost of Rs. 2 billion and cargo flights will commence by April 2005 followed by passenger flights by January 2006.” |

DEPUTY DG CAA Visits Sialkot Airport Site |
| Deputy Director General Civil Aviation Authority, Air Vice Marshal Abid Rao accompanied by Director Technical Services, Air Cdre Nayyar H. Faruqui and Director P&D CAA, Mr. Asif Bashir visited Sialkot Airport on 8th October 2004.

Russain Consul General Visits SIAL Head Office |
| Mr. Vladimir Mikhaylov, Russian Consul General, Pakistan visited SIAL Head Office on 25th August 2004. Chief Executive SIAL, Mr. Khawar A. Khawaja received the honourable guest and briefed him about the challenges faced by the SIAL management for this great project. Mr. Vladimir was greatly surprised to know that SIAL is an independent effort of enterprising exporters from Sialkot and is amongst the select few airports in the world. Mr. Khawar further highlighted the importance of the Airport’s strategic location that will provide a unique business opportunity for the countries of this part of the world to trade with the business community of Sialkot. |
